I’m Alex Nisbet — a dad, park user, and attorney — running for Fargo Park Board to keep our parks strong, accessible, and financially responsible. I have a strong track record advocating before regulatory commissions and representing clients on complex issues involving infrastructure, long-term planning, and public accountability. This community has given me and my family so much, and now I’m eager to give back in a meaningful way.
Great parks require investment, but they also require discipline. I’ll focus on making sure taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and deliver real value to Fargo residents.
Keeping parks, pools, and programs truly affordable and welcoming for every family, every senior, and every child — because great parks and programs should never be out of reach.
Shining a light on what’s available and how decisions are made, so every resident feels informed, heard, and genuinely invited to participate. Stronger communication builds trust and brings more voices to the table.
This is about our families, our future, and our community.
I am a proud Fargo North High School graduate who returned home several years ago to build my career and start a family. My wife Erin and I are raising our daughter Nora in South Fargo, along with our golden retriever, Lily. Like many families, we spend a lot of time in our local parks—playing, walking, and enjoying everything Fargo has to offer. I work as a regulatory policy specialist with Xcel Energy, where I focus on complex issues involving infrastructure, long-term planning, and public accountability. As an attorney, I’ve represented a wide array of clients and worked to balance competing interests and find practical solutions that deliver results. These are the same skills I’ll bring to the Park Board: Thoughtful decision-making, Long-term planning, Responsible use of taxpayer dollars
Fargo has given my family so much, and I want to give back in a meaningful way. Now more than ever, our parks are essential. In our increasingly busy and sometimes disconnected world, these welcoming third spaces outside of home and work offer priceless opportunities for stress relief, physical health, social connection, and that wonderful sense of belonging that makes Fargo feel like home. Our parks are where memories are made, families connect, and our community comes together. I want to help ensure they remain strong—not just today, but for Nora’s generation and for many generations to come. That means building on what’s working, making smart decisions, and being responsible with the resources entrusted to us.
I’d be honored to earn your support. Volunteer, request a yard sign & help spread the word!
